Itinerary Details:
Day 1: Jaipur Arrival
A local travel agent will warmly greet you upon arrival at Jaipur International Airport or railway station, and take a drive to the hotel. Jaipur was named as the Pink City, after the unique pink hue of the buildings of the old walled city, painted in 1876 to welcome the Prince of Wales and is normally a symbol of hospitality. Get settled and relax for a bit. You can choose to get settled, explore the surroundings or get immersed in the bustling atmosphere of the city’s famous bazaars like Johari Bazaar or Bapu Bazaar, famous for its fabrics, jewellery and local crafts. Your Golden Triangle Tour begins with an overnight stay in the regal city of Jaipur.
Day 2: Jaipur Sightseeing
Explore the iconic places of the Pink City. The tour typically begins with a tour of the magnificent Amber Fort, located a few kms away from the city. The incredible hilltop fort incorporates Mughal and Hindu architectural influences, known for its gates, fortification and breathtaking Sheesh Mahal. The royal experience is often supplemented with a vintage elephant or jeep drive up to the winding road to the main gate. Return to the city center to witness the Hawa Mahal, a five-story façade with 953 small windows, intricately designed for royal ladies to observe street celebrations without being noticed.
Next on the tour is the City Palace, the former royal family, featuring museums with a wide collection of antiquities, textiles and arms. The palace adjoins the Jantar Mantar, an 18th century astronomical observatory with the world’s largest stone sundial and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A beautiful Jal Mahal seems to hover in the center of Man Sagar Lake, making it a good stop for a late-afternoon photo. Stay overnight in Jaipur.
Day 3: Agra Transfer via Fatehpur Sikri
After an early morning breakfast, leave the hotel and begin your 5-6 hour journey to Agra. The renowned Taj Mahal is in Agra. The UNESCO World Heritage Site, Fatehpur Sikri, will be a midway halt of this journey. Built by Mughal Emperor Akbar in the 16th century, the city was employed as the capital of the Mughal Empire for only about 14 years before it was abandoned due to a scarcity of water. A glorious collection of Mughal architecture, including the Panch Mahal, the Jama Masjid, and the Buland Darwaza. The tour resumes to reach Agra.
As you arrive in Agra, check into the hotel. The huge Agra Fort is another UNESCO World Heritage Site, built of red sandstone and serving as the Mughal emperors’ main residence. It can be witnessed in the late afternoon, depending on your arrival. Stay overnight in Agra.
Day 4: Delhi Transfer
Enjoy a sunrise visit to the exquisite Taj Mahal, a Muslim art jewel of India. Built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, the monument is made of white marble that reflects eternal love and is a sight to stun as the colors alter with the sunrise. You will return to the hotel for breakfast after viewing the majesty of this monument. (Important Information: Taj Mahal remains closes on Fridays).
Further, take a breakfast and proceed to Delhi, the 3rd and final leg of the Golden Triangle Tour, which is a 4 to 5-hour drive away. The capital city of Delhi is a cosmopolitan city that blends the old with the new. The evening is at leisure to pursue individual interests or optional local exploration. Stay overnight in Delhi.
Day 5: Delhi Sightseeing Tour
There’s a half-day guided sightseeing tour of both New Delhi and Old Delhi planned for Day 5. A trip to the stunning Jama Masjid, India’s largest mosque, traditionally begins the day in Old Delhi. After driving past by the historic Red Fort, a stunning complex is more pleasing to the eye from the outside because of its central attractions are within. Experience the frenetic ambience of the walled city by taking a dashing rickshaw ride along the crowded, winding alleyways of Chandni Chowk, Asia’s Largest wholesale market. The trip further proceeds to New Delhi, with the Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhawan and India Gate. Then you may visit the towering Qutub Minar and Humayun’s Tomb, renowned UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India. Travellers may explore the sacred Gurudwara Bangla Sahib or the contemporary architectural marvel of the Lotus Temple. Stay overnight in Delhi.
Day 6: Delhi Departure
The day marks the final day of your 6 days Golden Triangle Tour. Based on the time of your flight or train departure, you will have a last-minute shopping tour after a relaxed breakfast. Get transferred to the Indira Gandhi International Airport for your destination.
