Tour Overview:

Char Dham Yatra by Bus is a 12 days tour for group travellers who are willing to experience the most sacred route of Uttarakhand, the Himalayas. The tour by luxury bus or Volvo coach makes it a popular and economical option for groups. The itinerary follows the traditional clockwise route of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath for a spiritually rich and physically challenging journey. Bhakts or devotees will trek a few kms to reach the sacred dhams of Uttarakhand from their base point. A preferred type of bus will accompany the travellers to reach the accessible points.

Itinerary Details:

Day 1: Delhi to Haridwar Transfer (by Bus)

The sacred journey begins with a bus transfer from a pickup point in Delhi to Haridwar, which takes approximately 5 to 7 hrs. and covers 210 kms. Haridwar is located on the sacred bank of the Ganga River and marks your entrance to the mountains. After arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel or ashram where you have booked your stay for one night. Later in the evening, visit Har ki Pauri ghat to take a holy bath and witness the Ganga Aarti ceremony at the ghat. For the remaining time, you may explore the local market and shop for souvenirs. Stay relaxed overnight.

Day 2: Haridwar to Barkot Transfer (by Bus)

The trek further ascends into the lower Himalayas. Today, you will be leaving from Haridwar to Barkot by bus, which is about 7 hrs. 180 kms. Journey. Barkot is a beautiful town on the banks of the Yamuna River and is considered the base point for the Yamunotri Dham darshan. Rest and acclimatize according to the atmosphere during the rest of the day.

Day 3: Yamunotri Day Trip (by Bus)

This day is planned for a trek of 6 kms to Yamunotri Dham. Early in the morning, get ready with your small backpack and leave for Janki Chatti, the last roadhead to Yamunotri Dham Mandir. The trek to Janki Chatti to the Yamunotri temple, located at the source of the River Yamuna, will be 6 kms away.  The various aarti and pooja are performed, after which the company proceeds back to Barkot by bus foran  overnight stay.

Day 4: Uttarkashi Transfer (by Bus)

The group will be transferred by bus from Barkot to Uttarkashi, a journey of around 4 hrs., 100 kms away. Uttarkashi is also known as the “Mini Kashi,” located on the Bhagirathi River and forms the base for the next dham. The afternoon is at leisure for rest and to be ready for further transportation. Local sightseeing often involves a visit to the nearby Vishwanath Temple.

Day 5: Gangotri Day Trip (by Bus)

The day is scheduled to worship the second dham of Char Dham Yatra. Groups will be escorted from Uttarkashi to Gangotri 3 to 4 hrs. journey. Gangotri is the holy origin of the River Ganga. Devotees take a holy dip in the Bhagirathi River and visit the Gangotri Temple, devoted to the goddess Ganga. The bus then takes the entire group to Uttarkashi for a relaxed overnight stay.

Day 6: Guptkashi Transfer (by Bus)

This is a long and necessary transit day, as the day proceeds through the Himalayas from Gangotri to Kedarnath, 9 to 10 hrs., 230 kms. Guptkashi is an important religious town and the practical hub for Kedarnath pilgrims. The group can spend the night here.

Day 7: Kedarnath Transfer (by Bus)

This is the most difficult day. The bus takes the group from Guptkashi to the last roadhead, Sonprayag or Gaurikund. The pilgrimage tour proceeds with a physically demanding 16 to 18 kms journey one-way or avail a pony/doli/helicopter at their own expense to reach Kedarnath Temple, housing Lord Shiva as one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. Stay relaxed overnight in Kedarnath.

Day 8: Guptkashi Transfer (by Bus)

Early morning darshan at Kedarnath Temple, the group treks back to the roadhead. The bus will be waiting, then drive them to Guptkashi, giving the group a chance to rest and rehabilitation after two physically challenging days. Stay overnight comfortably.

Day 9: Badrinath Transfer via Joshimath (by Bus)

The bus travel takes the group to the last Dham of this tour.  This is a long journey of 8 to 10 hrs. travelling via Joshimath before pressing on up to Badrinath. Arrive and check into your hotel. The evening is free to explore the Badrinarayan Temple and the Tapt Kund.

Day 10: Rudraprayag Transfer via Joshimath (by Bus)

Early morning darshan at the Badrinarayan Temple, the abode of Lord Vishnu. The group then leave the bus for Rudraprayag via Joshimath. It lies at a holy conjunction of rivers.

Day 11: Haridwar Transfer via Rishikesh (by Bus)

This would be the last long journey out of the highlands. The bus carries the group from Rudraprayag to Haridwar, taking 6 to 7 hrs. The tour passes through Rishikesh, including a brief sightseeing tour, before arriving for the last night in Uttarakhand at Haridwar.

Day 12: Delhi Departure (by Bus)

Today, the pilgrims join a last bus ride from Haridwar to Delhi, taking around 5 to 7 hrs. The tour would finally end when they arrive in Delhi. The tour ends with a lot of amazing memories.
