The Char Dham Yatra is a holy tour to the four holy shrines of the Himalayas, namely Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Our 12 days Char Dham Yatra tour itinerary from Hyderabad begins with a flight journey to span the geographical distance efficiently. The tour takes you further to Uttarakhand’s Garhwal Himalayas. The tour covered in this condensed and hectic journey allows the traveller a remarkable experience.
Itinerary Details:
Day 1: Hyderabad to Delhi by Flight
Your tour begins with a flight from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad to Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. This will make your journey smooth and hassle-free while saving a lot of time because the upcoming 12 days are going to be hectic. On your arrival in Delhi, check into your hotel for a short break before the road trip starts the next morning.
Day 2: Haridwar Transfer
A big road trip begins by taking you from Delhi to Haridwar, which includes driving for about 5 to 7 hours; 210 kms. Haridwar is a Hindu pilgrimage centre on the banks of the holy River Ganga, awaits. In the evening, explore Har ki Pauri Ghat to witness the mesmerising Ganga Aarti, a ritual offering of lamps to the river.
Day 3: Barkot Transfer
Today, you’ll take a drive to Barkot, which is around 7 to 8 hours; 180 kms. Barkot is an important town and the conventional base for visiting the Yamunotri Dham. The drive itself is beautiful as it takes you up on serpentine mountain roads. Stay in Barkot overnight for relaxation.
Day 4: Uttarkashi Transfer
Today, you will travel for 4 to 5 hrs. 100 kms which takes you to Uttarkashi, also known as “Mini Kashi” for its spiritual significance and location on the Bhagirathi River. Uttarkashi is the major gateway to Gangotri. It’s traditional to visit the local Kashi Vishwanath Temple upon arrival.
Day 5: Gangotri Darshan
The day is planned for the first darshan of Gangotri Dham. Early morning, you will be driven to Gangotri and back, taking around 3 to 4 hrs. .Gangotri is the origin of the Ganges River. A sacred bath in the river is also undertaken by devotees, but the major attraction is darshan at the Gangotri Temple, devoted to Goddess Ganga. After the ceremonies and adoration, you will be driven back to Uttarkashi for an overnight stay.
Day 6: Guptkashi Transfer
The longest day of the schedule is utilized in crossing over to the Kedarnath base and usually takes 9 to 10 hrs.. 250 kms. Guptkashi is a major stopover, which has an ancient temple and is strategically placed before the exhausting trek. The stunning Mandakini River valley comes into view.
Day 7: Kedarnath Transfer
The most arduous part of the trek requires an early start. You will drive from Guptkashi to the trek’s starting site. From there, you will begin the physically arduous 16 to 18 kms trek to the Kedarnath Temple, which is holy to Lord Shiva. Ponies, dolis, and helicopter services are other options, depending on availability and cost. Spend the night near the temple.
Day 8: Guptkashi Return
Today, after the spiritual high of the early morning Darshan at the Kedarnath Temple, you will begin the descent. Trek back down to the roadhead and take a ride back to Guptkashi. The day demands tremendous physical endurance, and returning to Guptkashi, it is important to have enough sleep.
Day 9: Joshimath Transfer
The trek continues to the final dham, Joshimath is 5 to 7 hrs. 180 kms. Joshimath is a town with great legendary significance; it acts as Lord Badrinath’s winter home. This is your staging point before the final push to Badrinath.
Day 10: Badrinath Darshan
The day is dedicated to the ultimate and most respected dham – Badrinath. It takes around 1 to 2 hrs. of journey to make a morning trip from Joshimath to Badrinath, covering 45 kms. Badrinath is the residence of Lord Vishnu. Before making darshan at the Badrinarayan Temple, a plunge in the Tapt Kund is a must. If time allows, you can visit the Mana Village. Return to Joshimath for an overnight stay after Darshan.
Day 11: Rishikesh Transfer
Begin the long drive back to the plains, 8 to 10 hrs. and 250 kms. The destination in Uttarakhand is Rishikesh, famously known as the “Yoga Capital of the World.” Visit the fabled suspension bridges like the Laxman Jhula upon arrival and witness the blend of spirituality and ecology on the banks of the Ganga.
Day 12: Hyderabad Departure
The last day comprises the final stage of the road journey to Delhi from Rishikesh, 6 to 7 hrs. You will be dropped off at the airport for your return flight to Hyderabad, marking the end of a successful and spiritual Char Dham Yatra.
