Char Dham Yatra Tour from Chandigarh is an 11-day tour itinerary allowing you a complete road tour to four holy dhams – Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Begin the tour from Chandigarh; this itinerary reduces travel time as compared to starting from more distant places by focusing the entire journey on navigating the spiritual and hard mountain circuit in the traditional clockwise order.
Itinerary Details:
Day 1: Chandigarh to Haridwar Transfer
The trekking adventure begins with a road transfer from Chandigarh to Haridwar, a leisurely 5 to 6 hrs. drive of 200 kms. Haridwar is one of India’s seven holiest cities on the banks of the Ganges. Check into a pre-booked hotel and spend the evening at the hallowed Har ki Pauri Ghat, where you may take a holy plunge and witness the famous nightly Ganga Aarti, which formally kicks off the pilgrimage.
Day 2: Barkot Transfer & Yamunotri Dham Worship
This is a long and stressful day, with considerable travel involved in the first Darshan. Your drive from Haridwar to Barkot is about 6 to 7 hrs. and 180 kms. As soon as you reach Barkot, meet the tour representative and get escorted to Yamunotri, the source of the River Yamuna. The timetable proposes that you head straight to Janki Chatti to begin the difficult final ascent to the Yamunotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. After the darshan, you return to Barkot for an overnight stay.
Day 3: Uttarkashi Transfer
The day is a bit more leisurely with a scenic drive from Barkot to Uttarkashi, 4 hrs., 100 kms. Uttarkashi is considered to as “Mini Kashi,” the biggest religious town on the Bhagirathi River. The afternoon will be reserved for rest and acclimatize, in preparation for the following day’s visit to Gangotri.
Day 4: Gangotri Darshan
Today, you will proceed to the second holy destination. In the early morning, you will drive to Gangotri from Uttarkashi, which may take around 3 to 4 hrs. one way. The holy origin of the River Ganga is at Gangotri. The pilgrims take a spiritual dip in this icy river before visiting the stunning Gangotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Ganga. After performing the rites, drive back to Uttarkashi for an overnight stay.
Day 5: Guptkashi Transfer
This is a mandatory and long travel day of 9 to 10 hrs. and 230 miles, as you cut across the Himalayas from Gangotri to the starting point for Kedarnath. Guptkashi lies in the Mandakini River Valley, the primary center for Kedarnath pilgrims. Check and relax for the physically demanding visit ahead.
Day 6: Kedarnath Transfer
The toughest day of the yatra. Get ready after breakfast and leave for a journey from Guptkashi to the roadhead, Sonprayag or Gaurikund. Begin the tedious 16 to 18 kms trek to the Kedarnath Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Take a night halt at a low-priced accommodation near the temple.
Day 7: Guptkashi Return
After the spiritual high of the early morning Darshan and puja at the Kedarnath Temple, you begin the descent today. The trek back down to the roadhead is followed by a drive down to Guptkashi, where you may finally unwind after two exhausting days.
Day 8: Joshimath Transfer
The tour now veers towards the last dham. The drive from Guptkashi to Joshimath is approximately 5 to 7 hours and 180 kms. Joshimath is a historic, strategically positioned town – the winter residence of Lord Badrinath, the last major halt before reaching the final shrine.
Day 9: Badrinath Darshan
This is the day for the final, most respected sacred site. You have to drive from Joshimath to Badrinath, which takes around 1 to 2 hours. Badrinath is the abode of Lord Vishnu. The pilgrims first bathe at the thermal Tapt Kund before entering the Badrinarayan Temple. Visiting the Mana Village could be included. After darshan, you will return to Joshimath for the night.
Day 10: Rishikesh Transfer
Enjoy a long drive from the high Himalayas to Rishikesh, also known as the Yoga Capital of the World. This is a final chance to soak in the spiritual ambience beside the Ganga, possibly visiting the famous suspension bridges Laxman Jhula and return hometown.
Day 11: Chandigarh Departure
The tour ends with a last road transfer from Rishikesh to Chandigarh, which takes approximately 5 to 6 hours. With this short drive in relaxed style, the amazing 11-day tour comes to an end today.
